This is our first post on this blog, and what better way to start, than by introducing ourselves, right?
Tailak S.A. es una tienda que lleva seis años en el rastro de Madrid y en Chueca, otra zona de Madrid, desde Agosto 2016. Todas nuestras alfombras están hechas artesanalmente en Asia Central, principlamente, en Afghanistan. Ayudamos a casi trecientas familias que se dedican al arte de las alfombras artesanales y la producción de telas artesanales. Gracias a esta industria y vuestras compras, estas familias pueden seguir luchando por un mejor futuro.
Tailak S.A is a shop that has been in El Rastro for six years, and in Chueca, another area in Madrid, since August 2016. All our rugs and carpets are handmade in Central Asia, mostly in Afghanistan. We help almost three hundred families who dedicate their lives to the art of handmade rugs and handmade ikat fabrics. Thanks to this industry and our sales, these families can strive for a better future.
Nuestra tienda en el rastro tiene tres plantas, y abrimos los siete dias de la semana. Ahí podráis encontrar una amplia selección de alfombras de muchos tipos. Casi todas nuestras alfombras son 100% lana, utilisando solo lana hilada a mano, y teñidas con colores naturales. Otras son de seda, o son una mezcla de lana y seda. Tenemos Kilims y Berbebers de distintos tamaños y dibujos. Y sino tenemos justo el diseño que buscas en ninguna de nuestras dos tiendas, te la podemos encargar según tus exigencias propias y exactas, sin ningun coste adicional. En nuestra tienda de Chueca solo hay una planta, pero no por eso hay menos variedad. No solo tenemos kilims y Berbebers, sino que tambien tenemos las famosas alfombras Vintage, que nosotros llamamos reloaded. Y no solo hacemos pedidos y encargos personalizados, sino que podemos cortar cualquier alfombra para que quepa perfectamente en vuestro entorno.
Our shop in El Rastro has three floors, and we open we seven days a week. There you can find an inmense array of rugs and carpets to choose from, in various styles and colours. Almost all of our rugs are 100% wool, made with hand spun wool and dyed with natural colours. Others are made of silk, and some are a mix of wool and silk. We have kilims and berbers in different sizes and styles. And if we don't have exactly the design you want in either of our shops, we can have yours custom made according to your exact requirements, without any additional cost. At our Chueca shop, there is only one floor, but don't think that for this reason there is any less variety. We not only have kilims and berbers, but we also have the highly popular and well know vintage rugs, which we call reloaded. And just so you know, we don't just do custom made orders. We can also cut rugs and carpets to the perfect size for your space.
Aparte de las maravillosas alfombras que vendemos, tambien tenemos ikats (textiles) en seda y terciopelo - todo artesanal. Estás telas ikats están hechas atresanalmente en Uzbekistan. Y con estas telas ikat hacemos nuestros cojines. Las medidas estandard que tenemos son de 40x40, 50x50, 60x60, y 40x60, pero si esas medidas no son las que buscáis, nosotros encantados te las hacemos a la medida que necesitas y sin ningun coste adicional. ¡Y no solo tenemos cojines de seda y terciopelo! ¡También tenemos cojines de kilim y en Suzani. La palabra suzani significa aguja, y asi se llama la tela bordada. Los suzanis se producen artesanalmente por la las campesinas de la tribu Iaqai, en Samarkand y en Bukhara, Uzbekistan, lugares en donde tambien se producen las telas ikat artesanalmente.
Besides all the beautiful rugs and carpets that we sell, we also have silk and velvet ikat fabrics - all handmade. These ikat fabrics are handmade in Uzbekistan, and this is the fabric we use to make our cushions. The standard cushion sizes we have in stock are 40x40, 50x50, 60x60, and 60x40, but if these measurements are not the ones you are looking for, we will be more than happy to have your cushions made in the size you require - again, at no additional cost. We don't just have silk and velvet cushions or fabrics either. We also have cushions made of kilim and suzani! The word suzani means needle, and that what the embroidered fabrics are called. The suzanis are handmade by the peasant women of the Iaqai tribe in Samarkand and in Bukara, Uzbekistan. These are the same cities where the ikat fabrics are handmade.
Con las telas artesanas que producimos y vendemos, también se pueden hacer pantallas para lámparas de cualquier tamaño. Pero no piensen que solo hacemos textiles para el hogar. Estos textiles tambien se pueden utilisar para hacer complementos de moda. Vieras que bolsos de embrague hacemos con nuestras tela ikat. Con estos bolsos eres la envidia de cualquiera. Y no nos olvidemos de los zapatos que hacemos de kilim tambien.
With these fabrics that have made in Uzbekistan, and which we sell, we can also make lampshades in any size. So now you know a little more about our shops and the products that we sell. All of this said, please don't think that our textiles are only for the home. We can also make fashion accessories with these fabrics. You should see how beautiful our silk ikat clutches are. You will be the envy of everybody with yours! And let's not forget about the beautiful kilim shoes we have as well.
